Thread: Having problem with cydia.....

Hi friends,
I am new to this forum and new to the world of iPhone and jailbreaking, so please help me out in sorting my problems. I am using iPhone 2g with firmware 3.1.3 running on it, this is my first product of apple and I bought it from one of my friends...I have some problems and some queries, and will be very thankfull to you guys if you help me sorting them out...
My problems are as follow:
1: after getting my iPhone 2g I got it unlocked from one professional and now it is working with every available network. I don't knw if my iPhone is jailbroken or not but I assume that it is jailbroken as I can see cydia menu on home screen, the problem s that when I first time accessed cydia on my iPhone it opened without any problem, but when I exited cydia then I noticed that default icons which comes preinstalled on apple's OS began to disappear one by one,before using cydia everything was okay. After this I thought my phone has again got locked so again I took it to same guy to get unlocked(this again cost me few bucks). After getting it unlocked I haven't used cydia again due to fear of getting my iPhone locked again,can ny body tell me why I am facing this problem and to solve this. Plzzzzzzz help me soon as I am unable to cydia and Unable to use all the cool softwares available for cydia users.
2: the second problem I am facing is that I am unable to sync my iPhone to iTunes, I am using iTunes version 9.1, whenever I am trying to transfer my songs and data o to my iPhone through iTunes my phone is getting partially locked that is it is asking for passwords to access some applications on my iPhone, due to this I am also unable to use iTunes to transfer files to my iPhone.
3: plus one thing I want to know can I use apple's app store to download applications on my jailbroken iPhone....

Plllzzzzzzz friends helllllpppppp me soooon in this regard I would be very gratefully to u guys.....

1. Restore to 3.1.3 and jailbreak with spirit ( yes do it yourself and save your cash )

2. Cracked apps wont sync unless you have appsync installed, you can get this by installing "installous" via the hackulo.us repo ( add cydia.hackulo.us to sources in cydia )

3. No you cant, you can use installous for that purpose.

4. Support the devs and buy any apps you like.

Where to get this installous, I have to download it on my pc or I can install it directly through cydia on my iPhone, and do I also need it to transfer my songs to iPhone through iTunes ?

You install it via cydia.

Load up cydia and at the bottom select manage, then choose sources. At the top right press edit then at top left press add. Now add the following http://cydia.hackulo.us/. You will get a warning about cracked apps or something just allow it. When the repo has been added press done top right. Now press on the hackulo repo in the list and you will see a list of apps, download installous. And thats it.

You dont need it for your songs.

I need some more clarification before going ahead with jailbreaking again:
1: is it necessary to jailbreak my iPhone again coz the guy who jailbreaked my iPhone earlier has already restored my iPhone to 3.1.3 and then jailbroked it....I can't simply use cydia without jailbreaking it again ? Will it not work if I install installous in cydia now without jailbreaking my phone again.
2: is there no way we can install applications from apple's app store on jailbroken iPhone ? As app store also has lots of usefull applications....

I`d recommend you jailbreak it again to install cydia.

All the apps that are on the app store are available via installous.

And ya do you mean each and every applications on apple's app store is available through 'installous' ? If that's the case then I think installous and cydia are really very great things which could happen to iPhone users....

I earlier faced some problems which I forgot to mention,sorry for that...earlier when I tried to restored my iPhone it got locked, and what ever I tried I was unable to unlock it,so that was the first time I had to make a visit to that vendor for unlocking my phone. Maybe I must have done some mistake in restoring my phone. So it will be very kind of you if you tell me step by step procedure of restoring my phone to 3.1.3 so that I don't end up locking it again as I have read on web that using spirit only jailbreaks iPhone it doesn't unlock it, so if I locks it again then I wll be in big trouble... By the way jailbreaking part with spirit was very simple and easy to understand and in that part I have no problem. Just slight doubt about shsh file...what is shsh file and how to save it before starting jailbreaking? well there was link which gave detailed description of it but I was unable to understand it, could u please give me process for saving shsh file in simple manner...
