Upgrading from Jailbroken 4.1 to 4.2

    Hi all. New here.

I got a bunch of questions about upgrading to 4.2.

So I bought an iPod 4th Gen with 4.1, I jailbroke it with Limera1n, been using it like this for the last month and a half.

Now that 4.2 is out; what is the proper way to upgrade to jailbroken 4.2?

Do I need to update to the Official Firmware first? If so, how should I do it? Should I upgrade via iTunes? Or maybe download the OFW from another place? And then, what happens to my iPod? I assume it loses the jailbreak, but will I lose all of my games/settings on it? Or will they simply stop working until I jailbreak it again?

Finally, which is the better way to Jailbreak it on 4.2?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.

But, before Jailbreaking it, should I update from 4.1 Jailbroken (as it is now) to the Official 4.2 firmware using iTunes? or does using redsn0w means it is putting the 4.2 OS in there as well?

Why would you want to upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2, nothing major has been added to justify doing that. If I was you I would save yourself the hassle and just stick with 4.1 until a proper jailbreak comes out for future firmware, which wont be a 4.2 JB btw.

As Kenny said the redsn0w jailbreak is tethered, its not exactly practical to reboot your phone with redsn0w each time it turns off because you have forgot to charge it.

My advice, stick with what you got, and enjoy it.

I see... sorry I guess I misunderstood what "tethered jailbreak" actually meant. Yeah, I'm not doing that.

Well, I'll stick with 4.1 then! Appreciate your help guys!

Hey... I'm back! So, now that there's a proper way to jailbreak 4.2; my question stands. What's the correct way for me to upgrade from a Jailbroken 4.1 iPod Touch to the new 4.2 greenpois0n jailbreak?

    Thanks!

Life-changing" apps from the appstore (because everybody needs an mp3 player that doubles up as a spirit level right?). So why hasn't everybody bought one? Is it that they prefer the Microsoft Zune? Or is it the hefty price tag? What if there was a way to get free iPod? There are a few things that are worth a try, some better than others.
