I have been doing some searching on a few threads and I think I have found a way to use an iPhone on ATT without the data plan. I was going to run through it on here too see if anyone could tell me whether it would work. The threads I read were about a year old so I m not sure if what worked then will work now.

Basically I would buy a new iPhone from ATT and jailbreak the iPhone. Place my SIM card in a different phone and use it for a couple of days. Call up ATT and inform them I am not using the iPhone and have them remove the data plan from my Bill I would proceed to download the APN settings app from cydia so it sends a fake APN so I don't appear to be using an iPhone from ATTs view point but w/e phone my SIM card was last used in.

Would this possibly work so I wouldn't have to pay for the data plan? Has anyone tried it? If I try it and it doesn't work it will be a $360 mistake lol. I personally just want the iPhone for messaging, camera and music. Its hard to find a phone with a decent camera and audio player.
